Ideal Customer Service - Golden Eggs! by Bernard Smalls

Golden Eggs!

A good illustration of Ideal Customer Service™ is the
story of the goose that laid the golden egg. If you kill the
goose, what happens? Many sales and service people “kill
the goose” daily and cannot seem to understand what
happened to their golden eggs.

A man and his wife had the good fortune to possess a goose which laid a golden egg every day. Lucky though they were, they soon began to think they were not getting rich fast enough, and, imagining the bird must be made of gold inside, they decided to kill it. Then, they thought, they could obtain the whole store of precious metal at once; however, upon cutting the goose open, they found its innards to be like that of any other goose.

The Moral of The Story

Greed destroys the source of good so think before you act.
"Killing the golden goose" has become a metaphor for any short-sighted action that may bring an immediate reward, but will ultimately prove disastrous. In our economy we are faced with mega-problems that are rooted in killing the goose that lays the golden egg, or the customer!
To continually deliver Ideal Customer Service™ I want you to adopt the Motto:

Always do more than is expected of you.
• Always do more than you are paid for.
• If you do, customers will remember you and come back!

What Great Companies Know About Service the Mediocre Ones Don’t

All great companies and organizations know – IF WE DON’T
TAKE CARE OF OUR CUSTOMERS SOMEONE ELSE WILL!
This requires that you understand the power of service. He
is a quote that drives it home:

No one achieves greatness without first being of
service. Service is the essence of greatness.
All great men and women become great because they
gave some talent or ability in service to others.
And no matter how small our talent,
We too can contribute in some way to others.
We too can become great!
